The Dunwich Community Heritage Centre (DCHC) is in the middle of a project to update the Reading Room space. We are all aware of the limitations and problems with the current Reading Room. The space has been suffering from building decay, poor light, a lack of storage, and is difficult and expensive to heat.
This project has given us time to look at the site as a whole, consult with users, and develope the vision for the Reading Room as a wonderful community space, within the limitations of the site.
· A more sustainable building and pleasant environment

· Lighting solutions and natural light from new windows

· Office space for museum and hall administration

· Purpose built storage for village and museum archives

· Storage for the furniture and equipment

· Moveable screens for display and division of space

· New kitchen with improved catering facilities

· Accessibly toilet and lift to upstairs

· Community archive and library

· Better technology
If you wish to see some of the plans, please feel free to download our consultation flyer below.
All Dunwich residents are encouraged to fillout feedback on the plans for our village's Reading Room and the feedback form can be found below. Completed feedback can be returned to the museum or emailed to Jane Hamilton at manager@dunwichmuseum.org.uk

We are currently undertaking a digitization project, going through and documenting hundreds of glass slides and photo negatives to add to our collection. If you are interested in joining us and volunteering as a part of the project, let us know at manager@dunwichmuseum.org.uk.
