Schools

We very much enjoy welcoming the school parties who visit us every year and provide a varied and engaging day out. In the museum, we tell the story of the great storms that destroyed the busy harbour and explain the coastal processes that wiped out a thriving town. The dramatic effect of the sea on the land and the lives of people is brought into unique focus here at Dunwich. This is the one-stop shop for coastal processes and their role in history, adaptable for all year groups.

You will hear lots about the changing shape of our coastline during your visit, watch this animation to give you an idea before your visit. This shows the coastline changing from c.400 - 2000.

Plan your visit to the museum!

A cross-curricula Pick and Mix of educational resources for primary schools can be found on our Downloads page. Our new Coastal Slideshow contains aerial photos and revealing historic pictures and maps.

Visits can be booked by arrangement with the manager, who will be only too pleased to lay on a special talk and tour with Sister Luke for your class – tailored to your year group and course needs. A small fee is charged for this service.
