The Woodwose and Wildmen of Suffolk
Sat, Oct. 18, 2025 6:30pm — 7:30pm
Matt Salusbury, author of Myster Animals of Suffolk and Chair of the Trustees of Dunwich Museum, describes the strange figures of woodwose (or wildmen) carven on the fonts, porches, and towers of numerous churches in Suffolk, but which are rare outside the county.
What are the Suffolk wildmen? Have there been sightings? Would there have been wildmen on display in any of Dunwich's lost churches?
Matt's investigation into Suffolk's wildmen point to an origin amound our North Sea neighbours on the Continent.
This event will be online! Please email us at chronicles@dunwichmuseum.org.uk and get your free ticket at on our Eventbrite page!
