Database under construction - you are welcome to browse using the search function on the right but please note that work is still in progress and far from complete!
The Museum receives many enquiries about the history of Dunwich from students and interested members of the public. The database is an expanding collection of documentary references to Dunwich and is a tool to aid researchers and students doing projects. The Museum will be pleased to receive lists of references electronically (email: kchant@dunwichmuseum.org.uk) to add to the database. If you would like to contribute information to this database please contact us.
The database is user friendly, based on a list by topic, list by period or full text search. References are mainly primary sources or published articles. There are occasional book references when the subject matter is Dunwich or there is a significant entry related to Dunwich.

- University of Southampton Project
Some of the most exciting research currently being undertaken is Southampton University's 'Dunwich, The Search for Britain's Atlantis' supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation link: http://www.dunwich.org.uk/
This is an integrated historical and geophysical survey of a medieval town lost through cliff recession and coastal inundation. It aims to determine the location and extent of remains within the former city that lie buried beneath the Dunwich bank and inshore bars. It has identified the remains of two medieval structures, and the tentative identification of two others. - Accessing Ancient Dunwich Project
‘Accessing Ancient Dunwich’ is a project bringing the fascinating story of Dunwich and its museum collections to a wider public. It is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Project will inspire learning about Dunwich's history and its unique place in the story of the changing coastline.
It will focus on learning about Dunwich through time and change through a walking trail, learning materials for schools and by making both the Museum's Collection and records of ancient Dunwich publicly accessible on-line for the first time.
Volunteers are needed for this project. If you would like to participate click here (PDF). - Suffolk Heritage Direct
In 2010/11 we will be working with Suffolk County Council to bring digital images of the Museum's collections of objects and photographs online. http://www.suffolkheritagedirect.org.uk/
